About SCPSUK
The Sanskrit Chhatra Pratibha Samman is a state award scheme of the Department of Sanskrit Education, Government of Uttarakhand. It is administered through the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy in Haridwar, which gives a cash award and a certificate to students who place among the top rankers in Sanskrit at their level of study.
Uttarakhand recognises Sanskrit as an additional official language and runs a separate stream of Sanskrit schools and colleges alongside its general education system. Against that backdrop, the scheme sets out to encourage students to carry Sanskrit into higher study, rewarding those who secure the first, second or third position in the subject.
The recognition covers a ladder of Sanskrit examinations, from the high school and intermediate boards through the traditional Purva Madhyama, Uttar Madhyama, Shastri and Acharya levels and on to graduate and postgraduate classes. Students qualify on the marks they obtain; the Academy identifies awardees by corresponding with the relevant examination boards and universities rather than inviting applications, and presents the awards at a felicitation ceremony.
