About SCPUK
The Sanskrit Chhaatr Pratiyogita is a state scheme run by the Department of Sanskrit Education in Uttarakhand. It organises Sanskrit competitions for students to encourage the study and everyday use of the language in the state's schools and colleges.
Uttarakhand maintains a dedicated Sanskrit Education Department, whose directorate oversees Sanskrit teaching from the primary level up to the postgraduate (Acharya) stage and runs the state's network of Sanskrit schools and colleges. The competition scheme sits within that wider work of keeping Sanskrit in active use among young people.
Contests are held in two brackets, a junior category for school students and a senior category that runs up to post-graduation, so participants compete against peers at a comparable stage. Winners receive a cash award. The scheme is open to students in Uttarakhand; the eligible classes, competition levels and prize amounts are set out in the official notification.

Eligibility criteria
| The institutional students studying in the junior classes (Class 6 to 10) and senior classes (Class 11 to post-graduation) of any government, private, or non-governmental school/college in Uttarakhand are eligible to participate. | |
| The students pursuing B.Ed., Ph.D., or Diploma courses are not eligible for participation. |

Award & benefits
- Separate six Sanskrit competitions for junior and senior categories are organized at every level. The prize distribution is as follows:
- Development Block Level
- Team Events: Minimum prize of ₹300/- and maximum prize of ₹800/-- Individual Competition: Minimum prize of ₹300/- and maximum prize of ₹500/-
- Team Events: Minimum prize of ₹400/- and maximum prize of ₹2,000/-- Individual Competition: Minimum prize of ₹400/- and maximum prize of ₹800/-
- Team Events: Minimum prize of ₹6,000/- and maximum prize of ₹25,000/-- Individual Competition: Minimum prize of ₹2,000/- and maximum prize of ₹4,000/-
