Sainik School Scholarship Located Outside the Uttarakhand(SSSLOUK)

No open date and no close date are published for this scheme, and the department does not put out a common annual calendar for it. The dates that bind a family are set by the school the cadet attends. The one dated instance on the public record is Ghorakhal's, and it falls early: its proforma is headed for the 2026-27 session and carries a hard line that the paper must be submitted by 31 May 2026, failing which the scholarship will not be claimed from the government for that ward at all (Sainik School Ghorakhal, submission of income certificate).

That is the shape to plan around. The deadline is a school notice to watch for in the spring term, not a state announcement to wait for, and it can close before the academic year has properly settled.

The gate is domicile plus enrolment plus a monthly income figure, and the income figure is the one that decides the amount rather than merely opening the door. The ceiling is a hard edge rather than a taper: a family whose monthly income exceeds Rs 22,000 is out, and Ghorakhal's slab table prints the band above that as Nil rather than as a reduced share (scholarship details from the Ministry of Defence and Uttarakhand State Government). A household a few hundred rupees over the line receives nothing at all.

Family income here is not a single salary slip. The proforma Ghorakhal issues for Uttarakhand domicile cadets asks separately for the father's and the mother's occupation, pay scale, basic pay, dearness allowance, income from business, income from immovable property and income from land or agriculture, then totals them per month and per annum (submission of income certificate for the year 2026-27). The scheme record carries no exclusion list, so the income ceiling is the only formal bar the state publishes. What ends a claim in practice is the paper. Ghorakhal's circular, written for the Uttarakhand domicile cadets on its own rolls, states that an overwritten or incomplete income certificate will be rejected, that the cadet will then be treated as a full fee payee student for the session, and that no further correspondence will be entertained (submission of income certificate for the year 2026-27). Whether the school a cadet actually attends is that unforgiving is worth asking its accounts office before the form is filled in.

Uttarakhand publishes no renewal clause for this scheme, and there is no stated rule that an award once made runs on to Class 12. What the paperwork shows is that the claim is annual: the certificate is headed for one session and a fresh one is called for before the next. Ghorakhal adds an academic condition for the cadets on its own rolls, requiring 50% marks in each subject and 55% in aggregate in the annual examination before the Uttarakhand state scholarship is awarded there (Sainik School Ghorakhal, submission of income certificate). That is the school's rule for the campus it runs, not a published condition of the out of state scheme, so a family should ask whether its own school applies something similar to the claim it forwards.

The award is a yearly cash amount fixed by the slab the family's monthly income falls in, and Ghorakhal names the slabs rather than only listing rupees, which is the part that explains a smaller than expected credit.

The scheme record lists nothing beyond those four annual amounts. Ghorakhal's notice does add a food subsidy for Uttarakhand domicile cadets on top of the slab money, at a daily rate its scanned copy does not render legibly, and nothing published says whether that line ever reaches a cadet on another school's rolls (Ghorakhal's scholarship notice). The number of awards made each year is not published either, by the department or by the scheme record.

A separate Ministry of Defence layer sits on top of the state money at every Sainik School, and it is not part of this scheme. Ghorakhal lists it as a defence scholarship of Rs 32,000 for wards of serving or retired NCOs and other ranks and Rs 16,000 for JCOs and equivalent, a sharing of enhanced fee of roughly Rs 12,000 per cadet, and a central assistance paid to cadets who already hold a state scholarship. A cadet outside Uttarakhand should ask the school for its own version of that list, since each school administers the defence side itself.

The record names four documents and stops there, and the income certificate is the one that carries the weight, because it fixes the amount as well as the entitlement. The certificate it asks for is the tehsil issued one, the general purpose document a family may already hold, and on the state's own list that is the whole requirement.

Ghorakhal handles the same certificate far more heavily for the Uttarakhand domicile cadets on its rolls, and its circular is the closest published picture of what a Sainik School expects of the paper. A family claiming from outside the state should ask its own school which of the two forms will be accepted before anything is filled in.

What travels with the certificate depends on how the parents earn. The same circular asks for an income certificate from the employer or pay disbursing authority where a parent is employed, a pension certificate from the pension disbursing authority where a parent draws pension, and a photocopy of the previous year's income tax return where a parent is self employed or in business. Parents in the armed forces carry a different set for the defence side of the fee support: a serving certificate signed by the officer commanding the unit, or for an ex serviceman a certificate from the District Soldier Board signed by the Zila Sainik Kalyan Evam Punarvas Adhikari.

The claim starts at the school office and never touches a website. myScheme records the application mode for this scheme as offline and lists no application link, which is the practical answer to the question most families ask first. The file moves school to school: the campus the cadet actually attends collects the papers and passes them up to Ghorakhal, and the state's money comes back down the same route.

The part a parent actually controls is narrow: get the income certificate made, get it attested, and get it in before the school's date. Do it without a single correction on the sheet, because at Ghorakhal an overwriting is a rejection rather than a query. Checking Where the Claim Has Reached

There is no application number, no status page and no portal login for this scheme, because there is no online application to track. That leaves three checkable things: the acknowledgement or receipt the school office gives when the certificate is submitted, the school's own scholarship notice or circular for the session, and the credit itself in the Aadhaar linked bank account the document list requires. Ask for the acknowledgement at the counter; it is the only dated proof a parent holds.

That is a real difference from state scholarships that run online. Schemes routed through the National Scholarship Portal give the student a registration ID and a status link, and a family used to that flow should not wait for one here.

There is no selection stage. The record publishes no examination, no merit list, no reservation quota and no district allocation, and the slab settles the amount once the income certificate is accepted. Uttarakhand asks only who you are, where you study and what the household earns.

The practical reading is that this is arithmetic rather than competition. The income total on the certificate lands in one of the published bands and the band names the amount, and nothing on the record gives the department a discretion to rank one Uttarakhand cadet against another.

The scheme record publishes no terms and conditions block. Two conditions are visible in the paperwork itself. The income certificate is year specific, so an old certificate does not carry forward. One thing worth confirming with the school: the record classifies the benefit as cash, while Ghorakhal's language about a cadet being treated as a full fee paying student suggests the amount is set against the school's fee bill on its own campus.
