Overview

About ATPIPORDASSPSRSFMS

The Rani Durgavati and Shankarshah Puraskar Scheme is a reward scheme run by the Government of Madhya Pradesh through its Tribal Affairs Department. It gives a cash award to Scheduled Tribe students who do well in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.

The department is the state's nodal body for the welfare and development of Scheduled Tribes, and it runs a number of educational incentive and award programmes for ST students. This scheme sits within that work: it recognises academic merit at the two board-exam stages, and the award value varies with the level of a student's result. It is meant for students from the Scheduled Tribe community in Madhya Pradesh whose board performance meets the scheme's merit criteria, so it rewards results a student has already earned rather than funding studies in advance.

The scheme takes its name from Rani Durgavati, the Gond queen who ruled the Garha-Katanga kingdom in central India, and from Shankar Shah.
