About RLBSDT
The Rani Laxmi Bai Self-Defense Training scheme gives free self-defense training to girl students in government upper primary and secondary schools in Uttarakhand. The training covers disciplines such as judo, karate, martial arts and boxing. The benefit is the training itself, delivered in kind, so there is no cash award, stipend or reimbursement.
It is a state-level scheme run by the Department of Education in Uttarakhand, which oversees the state's government schools through Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, the state unit of the integrated school-education programme that the Union Ministry of Education runs from pre-primary to Class 12.
The scheme covers government schools only; private schools are not eligible. Where a school is selected, every girl studying in it is covered automatically, rather than through an individual application.
