About PESMP
The Primary Education Scholarship is a Madhya Pradesh state scheme for children from De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities who are in their first years of school. It is run by the state's De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Welfare Department, with the scholarship money distributed to students through the Directorate of Public Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
The benefit is a modest annual cash payment to a child enrolled in a primary class. Its purpose is to help keep these children enrolled and continuing through the primary stage, classes 1 to 5, in households with little to fall back on.
It is meant for students who belong to a De-notified, Nomadic or Semi-Nomadic community and are studying in a primary class. Eligibility rests on that community status and enrolment rather than exam performance.
