About MPSS-UP
The Post-matric Scholarship Scheme is a state programme in Uttar Pradesh administered by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. It supports students from Other Backward Classes who have passed Class 10 and are continuing their studies, and it sits alongside similar post-matric schemes handled by the state's Social Welfare and Minority Welfare departments.
The department describes the aim as improving the educational standing of the backward classes and helping students stay in the system past school. Support reaches the student as cash paid directly into a bank account, easing the fee and study costs that often push post-matric students to drop out. The scholarship covers a range of post-matriculation levels, from Class 11 and 12 through degree, diploma and professional courses at recognised institutions.
Eligibility is limited to OBC students who are domiciled in Uttar Pradesh, enrolled at a recognised institution in the state, and within the family-income ceiling the department sets. Students apply online through the state scholarship portal, where they register, upload documents and track the status of a claim each academic year.
