The cycle is fixed to the same weeks every year, and the calendar in the guidelines is built around the summer vacation rather than around a rolling application window.

The block itself runs across six weeks from the start of June to the middle of July, and the week-by-week plan in the scheme guidelines moves an intern from beat duty, night patrol, roll call, complaint inquiry and investigation in the early weeks to the research paper in the later ones.

Read the educational qualification row of the scheme table rather than a summary of it. The Police Internship Scheme guidelines issued by Police Headquarters, Bhopal admit students on the five-year law course, students on B.E. or B.Tech courses, students on any master's or postgraduate course from a UGC recognised institution, students on MCA, BCA or PGDCA courses, students pursuing CA or CS, students on a diploma in police-related subjects such as human rights, and research scholars working on police-related subjects. Engineering and commerce students who assume the scheme is only for law students are reading a summary, not the order itself.

Two conditions decide most applications before the course a student is on matters at all. The age band is read on a fixed date in May rather than on the day the form is submitted, so a birthday a few weeks late moves an applicant out of that cycle, and the scheme record puts residence in Madhya Pradesh at the head of its own eligibility list, ahead of any course.

No bar list appears anywhere in the order, so nothing here is quoted from one. What works like one in practice is the qualification row and the state line: an applicant on a course the order does not name, or living outside Madhya Pradesh, has nothing to apply against. The one exclusion the order does write down applies after selection, and the scheme guidelines let the district Superintendent of Police remove an intern from the scheme at any point during the posting for lack of interest.

Nothing renews here. The scheme guidelines set one dated block a year against a fresh application in that year's window, and they carry no continuation, extension or second-year provision to quote. The one flexibility the form does allow runs the other way: an applicant whose own academic calendar clashes may write in a shorter period than the scheduled block, which the proforma caps at one and a half months.

The return is access and a credential. On successful completion the district Superintendent of Police issues the certificate on the SP office letterhead, over their own name and seal, in the format attached to the scheme guidelines. For the length of the posting the district unit head issues the intern a temporary identity card, and the intern is attached to an officer of at least Sub-Inspector rank, who carries the first-line supervision of the placement and the coaching that goes with it.

One condition deserves reading before you pick a research topic. The guidelines keep publication rights over the intern's research paper with the Police Department, and the intern may use the work only with the Superintendent of Police's permission. For anyone who intends to publish from the internship, that is a term to settle at the start rather than at the end.

There is no cash component at all. The scheme document rules out salary and honorarium for a selected student and leaves lodging and food to them, and every money field of the state entitlement listing for the scheme, from grant to loan to assistance, is empty. Applying itself costs nothing.

The short list of enclosures is not the whole ask. The prescribed proforma attached to the scheme guidelines wants the academic record from matriculation onward with the percentage or CGPA at each stage, the course currently being pursued with its institution and duration, the names of two references who can vouch for the applicant's conduct, the proposed research topic, and a separately enclosed note on why the applicant wants this internship.

The item that quietly sinks applications sits at the bottom of that form. It ends with an authentication block that the institute or university has to complete, certifying the information and recommending the application, signed and sealed by an authorised official. Assemble the form early enough for your college office to sign it before the deadline, not on the last day.

Applications are made on paper, at the office of the district Superintendent of Police of the district you want to be posted in, in the prescribed proforma, and they must reach that office by 25 May each year, as the Home Department states in the scheme record on the CM Helpline portal. No application fee is charged. That record's field for an online application link points to the Madhya Pradesh Police home page rather than to any form, which is the clearest published signal that no application portal exists for this scheme.

Tracking works the same way, offline. There is no portal login to check and no payment status to follow, because the scheme transfers no money. The office that took the application is the office that holds the answer, and the guidelines put dates on when it must have one: the district Superintendent of Police reports the selected students in the middle of June and files a second report at the start of August once the training is over, with the scheme as a whole controlled by the Training Headquarters. If that office goes quiet, the next step for this scheme sits with the Directorate of Training inside Police Headquarters, Bhopal, which the state listing records as the appeal route.

Selection is an administrative call taken inside the district, not a competitive examination. The scheme guidelines tell each district Superintendent of Police to first assess how many interns the police stations in that district can actually train, then select from the applications received on the basis of merit. Placement is decided in the same exercise, because the number of interns a station takes depends on its size, with the larger stations in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior able to take more than a medium station can.

No written test and no interview appear anywhere in the scheme document. Academic record and the institution's recommendation carry the application, which is why the counter-signed proforma matters more here than it would in a scheme with an entrance filter.

The daily duty record is the scheme's real assessment instrument. An intern writes down what was done and at what hour, and under the scheme guidelines the supervising officer authenticates it the following day, which means attendance and conduct are documented continuously rather than judged at the end.

Leave is not granted during the internship. Taken with the removal power and the self-funded stay, that makes the block a genuine commitment: an intern who cannot be in the district every working day of those weeks should apply in a different year rather than start and drop out.

The scheme publishes no dedicated helpline or email of its own. The application desk and the status desk are both the office of the district Superintendent of Police for the district you are applying in, the appeal authority is the Directorate of Training at Police Headquarters, Bhopal, and district police contact listings are published on the Madhya Pradesh Police website.
