About OTCA-BBDP-SW
The One Time Cash Incentive towards acquiring BEd, BPEd, DTEd, PGDCA is a welfare scheme run by the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry, and funded through the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. It helps ex-servicemen in the union territory take up a teaching or computer-application qualification after they leave service.
The support is a one-time cash grant that covers the actual cost of the course up to ₹20,000. It applies to four qualifications pursued at a government-recognised school or institution: a Bachelor of Education (BEd), a Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), a Diploma in Teacher Education (DTEd), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA).
The scheme is for unemployed ex-servicemen registered with the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry. A candidate must obtain the department's permission before enrolling, and the grant is paid straight into the beneficiary's bank account by RTGS or NEFT. The Armed Forces Flag Day Fund is administered by the Kendriya Sainik Board under the Ministry of Defence's Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare.
