Overview

About OTFSEWMSTS

One Time Financial Support for Economically Weaker Meritorious ST Students is a Tripura state scheme that gives a single, one-time cash grant to Scheduled Tribe students from economically weaker households. The support of Rs 1,00,000, released in two installments of Rs 50,000, is meant to help them meet the cost of professional and other courses at government-recognised institutes and colleges.

The scheme is run by the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, the state's nodal department for Scheduled Tribe development. Eligibility turns on both merit and means: applicants must be domiciled in Tripura, belong to the Scheduled Tribe community, and have passed the qualifying Class 10 or Class 12 examination with the marks the notification prescribes before taking admission to a recognised course.

Because it is a one-time award, it is aimed at first-year students entering a course of at least two years, and drawing it does not stop an eligible student from also receiving the Post Matric Scholarship. Applications are invited by academic year and are made online through the National Scholarship Portal.
