Overview

About OBCPMS

The OBC Pre Matric Scholarship is a cash award that the Uttar Pradesh government offers to students from Other Backward Class (OBC) communities who are still in school, before the matriculation stage. It is administered through the state's Department of Social Welfare and is meant to lower the day-to-day cost of schooling so these students can stay enrolled and finish their matriculation.

The benefit reaches the student as cash. It is meant for OBC students studying in Uttar Pradesh at the pre-matric level, and the class, income and residence conditions are fixed by the scheme's own rules. Check those conditions against your own situation before you apply, because eligibility is decided on them.

Pre-matric support for OBC students runs on two tracks in India. At the national level, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment lists a Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students among its education schemes, with applications routed through the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in. The Uttar Pradesh scheme is the state's own route for its OBC students.
