Nursing Kaushal College Jharkhand(NKCJ)
Overview
About NKCJ
Nursing Kaushal College Jharkhand is a state welfare scheme run by the Department of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority and Backward Class Welfare, Government of Jharkhand. On the ground it is delivered through the PReJHA Foundation (PanIIT Alumni Reach for Jharkhand), a non-profit set up as a joint enterprise between the PanIIT Alumni network and the state welfare department. The Kaushal Colleges operate across several districts of Jharkhand.
The aim is to move young women into paid nursing work through residential, skill-based training. Enrolled candidates get a free residential course with teaching space and lab facilities, and support with placement once they qualify. The benefit is in kind: the state funds the training and residential stay, and the core offering is a two-year ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) programme.
The scheme is meant for women from Jharkhand, with a focus on Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, minority and backward-class families and other disadvantaged backgrounds. Entry is tied to a candidate's age, Jharkhand residence and Class XII qualification, with the exact conditions set out in the eligibility criteria for the scheme.
