Non-Governmental Aided Organization (Special Schools And Vocational Training Centre) For Disabled(NGAO(SS&VT)D)
Overview
About NGAO(SS&VT)D
The Non-Governmental Aided Organization (Special Schools and Vocational Training Centre) for Disabled is a scheme of the Government of Maharashtra. It is run by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, the state body responsible for welfare and equal opportunity for disadvantaged groups through education, training and skilling.
The scheme works through non-governmental organisations that receive state aid to run special schools and vocational training centres. Children with disabilities are given special education suited to their needs, and older beneficiaries move on to vocational training that builds practical, employable skills. The support is composite, so it combines schooling and skills development rather than a single payment.
It is aimed at individual beneficiaries who have a disability. Special education is directed at children below 18 years enrolled at an aided special school, while vocational training serves those above that age.
