Nothing in the scheme's own rules fixes a calendar; the dates are whatever the portal is currently announcing. The MahaDBT 2.0 notice board has fresh applications for academic year 2026-27 commencing from 1 June 2026, and applications for the earlier academic year 2025-26, fresh and renewal alike, running up to 30 September 2026. Read against the migration, those are not two separate windows but one stretch in which a student who missed the earlier year on the old portal files it on the new one alongside current applicants. Since the allowance period is defined from the admission date to the end of the examination, per the ACS College copy of the rules, filing early changes when the money lands rather than how much of the year it covers.

Category, residence and course are the settled part: a Maharashtra-resident student from the VJNT lists, in a government-approved course from the first post-matric class upward. The income line is what the sources argue about, and not in the reader's favour.

The figure most easily found is Rs 1.50 lakh of parents' or guardian's annual income, which is what the scheme text republished by ACS College, Manmad carries, and a scheme booklet circulated by MES Night College, Pune still prints an older Rs 1.00 lakh. The live MahaDBT scheme card states a ceiling above both. A family working from the older number can therefore rule itself out of an award it would in fact qualify for, so the operative figure is whatever the scheme card shows on the day the application is filed, not what a college page reproduced years ago.

Two further conditions repay a closer reading than their one-line phrasing suggests. Admission to a professional course counts only when it came through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) round, so a management-quota or institute-level seat in a professional course carries no scholarship. And the family cap is not a flat two children: any number of daughters of the same parents may hold the award, while sons are capped at two, per the ACS College copy of the rules. Attendance of 75 percent in the current year is mandatory on the same text.

Nothing on this scheme's record is headed exclusions, so its disqualifiers have to be read out of the eligibility list, where they sit folded in among the qualifying conditions. Payment stops from the date the student accepts any other scholarship or stipend, so a second award cannot be drawn alongside this one, per the ACS College copy of the rules. Moving from a professional course to a non-professional one ends eligibility, as does abandoning a course midway through an academic year for another. The award follows a single course ladder as well: a student who has already completed a course and its follow-on cannot restart the scholarship for a second qualification at the same level; the rules' own worked example refuses an M.A. that follows a completed B.A. and B.Ed, while allowing an M.B.A., because a professional postgraduate course re-qualifies. One further bar sits on the companion freeship scheme card rather than on this one, and it applies to both: a professional-course admission at a deemed university draws neither the scholarship nor the freeship.

Renewal turns on promotion, not on reapplying alone. The student must pass the previous year's examination, and a failed year is a year the state does not reimburse. Group A courses carry one concession: a first failure can still be renewed, while from the second failure onward the student bears every expense until promotion is secured; the other groups get no first-failure cushion. If illness or another event beyond the student's control prevented the annual examination, the head of the institution can certify against medical or equivalent proof that the student would have passed, and the renewal survives.

The maintenance allowance runs on a group-wise slab, payable from the admission date to the exam completion date.

Tuition fee, exam fee and maintenance allowance are paid at 100 percent for students of government, aided and unaided institutions, in professional and non-professional courses alike, and B.Ed and D.Ed students get the full benefit with fees in aided and unaided colleges reimbursed at the government's rates for the course, per the ACS College copy of the rules. A student who takes a place in a government hostel draws only a third of the hosteller amount, which is the detail that most often explains a credit smaller than the slab suggests.

One caution on the figures seen elsewhere: the myScheme summary of this scheme attaches the top of the allowance range to day scholars and the bottom to hostellers, which is the reverse of the slab above. The department's own Marathi scheme page publishes the same group-by-group split as the table, which is the cross-check to make whenever a summary quotes a single number. The scheme text nowhere defines which courses sit in groups A through E; that classification is applied inside the portal when the course is selected, so the rate cannot be worked out in advance from the course name alone.

Three items reflect this scheme's particular rules rather than the standard scholarship set. The caste validity certificate is mandatory only for professional degree and professional postgraduate courses, so non-professional applicants can file without it. The ration card and the parents' declaration about child beneficiaries exist to verify the daughters-unlimited, sons-capped family rule, which makes mismatched family details between those two documents worth fixing before submission. A gap certificate is optional in general but becomes mandatory the moment there is any break in the education record.

The route changed in the middle of 2026, and most pages describing this scheme have not caught up. The old portal's own migration notice records that new application intake for post-matric schemes there was discontinued from 1 June 2026, that applications for academic years 2025-26 and 2026-27 are to be submitted through MahaDBT 2.0 only, and that scrutiny, bill generation and reporting on the old system stayed suspended until 5 July 2026. The registration link that scholarship listings still print for this scheme no longer opens a form at all: it hands the visitor across to the new portal, where the old path dead-ends on an error page.

Registration on MahaDBT 2.0 leans on Aadhaar for the student's identity and for the bank account the transfer lands in, and the profile is built once for every scheme a student turns out to be eligible for. The VJNT post-matric card is then chosen from the welfare department's scheme list, and the submitted file goes to the student's institute for verification before the district office's scrutiny.

Tracking sits on that same home page: a Track Application entry to follow the file by its application ID, a grievance route for a file that has stopped moving, and the helpline 022-49150800 for portal and payment questions alike. The migration notice also warns that earlier application data may not appear on the new portal while migration continues, which is worth knowing before an empty tracking screen is read as a rejection. Payment reaches the student by direct benefit transfer, and the portal keeps its Aadhaar-seeding and NPCI-mapping forms on the same page for the bank-account side of that.

There is no merit list and no ranking for this scheme; it is eligibility-based, with the application scrutinised through the institute and the district office rather than competed for. The scheme text states no selection rule beyond that scrutiny.

The condition that catches students out late is the one-course rule. The scholarship continues along a single educational ladder, from the first post-matric class through a doctorate if promotion keeps coming, but it does not restart for a second qualification at a level already funded, and the direction of any course change matters: non-professional to professional keeps eligibility, the reverse ends it. MahaDBT also operates a Right to Give Up mechanism for surrendering a benefit, and the portal's notices state that reactivating a given-up application runs through the student's own institute, quoting the application ID.

The executing agency is the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare in the applicant's district, which is where scrutiny questions land, per the myScheme record.
