Nishulk Ganavesh Yojana(NGYUK)
Overview
About NGYUK
Nishulk Ganavesh Yojana, the free-uniform scheme, is run by the Government of Uttarakhand's Department of School Education for children in its government and government-aided schools. Students receive the uniforms themselves, not a cash allowance: qualifying children in Classes 1 to 8 are given school uniforms at no cost.
The scheme is targeted rather than universal. It covers all girl students in those classes, boys from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, and General-category boys whose families fall below the poverty line. By meeting the cost of a uniform, it keeps that expense from becoming a barrier to attendance for the households it is meant to reach.
