Overview

About OBCDSSUK

The Other Backward Caste Dashamottar Scholarship Scheme is a state scholarship for Uttarakhand, run by the state's Department of Social Welfare. "Dashamottar" refers to the post-matriculation stage, the years after Class 10, and this scheme applies from Class 11 onwards.

It is meant for Other Backward Class (OBC) students who are residents of Uttarakhand and are continuing their education beyond Class 10. The benefit is cash assistance towards the cost of studying, paid as an educational allowance together with a tuition component, so that fees and other academic expenses are less likely to interrupt a student's schooling at the higher-secondary stage and after. To qualify, the family's annual income from all sources must stay within ₹2.5 lakh, alongside the category, residence and enrolment conditions listed with the scheme.

How much a student receives is set by the group the course falls under, so the exact amount varies from one course to another. Applications are made online, after which the student's institution forwards the form to the District Social Welfare Officer for verification and the amount is credited to the student's bank account. Because the documents, group-wise amounts and dates can change from year to year, confirm them on the official scheme listing before you apply.
