Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Hostel(NSCBRH)
Overview
About NSCBRH
Uttarakhand's Department of Education runs the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Hostel scheme, which gives free hostel accommodation to school-going children, both boys and girls, who are enrolled at nearby schools. It is one of the residential facilities that the Ministry of Education supports through Samagra Shiksha, the Centre's school education programme.
In February 2021 the Ministry of Education decided to name the residential schools and hostels funded under Samagra Shiksha after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The ministry sanctioned 1,063 such facilities, made up of 383 residential schools and 680 hostels, across states and union territories. They are meant for children in hilly, remote and sparsely populated areas who need shelter and care while they continue their schooling.
For the child, the benefit is a place to live at no cost while attending a nearby school. The support is aimed at disadvantaged boys and girls of school-going age who need somewhere to stay in order to keep going to formal school.
