Overview

About MMYKPY

The Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana is a work-training scheme run by the Government of Maharashtra's Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, delivered through the state's Mahaswayam employment portal. Launched in 2024, it places unemployed young people in six-month internships with host employers so they gain practical, on-the-job experience alongside their qualifications.

The purpose is to improve employability by pairing academic study with real workplace skills. A selected candidate works with an approved employer for six months and receives a monthly stipend paid straight to their bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer, with the amount set by their level of education. Both government bodies and private firms operating in Maharashtra can register on the portal to take on interns.

The scheme is meant for Maharashtra residents between 18 and 35 who have completed at least Class 12, or who hold an ITI certificate, diploma, degree or postgraduate qualification. The full eligibility conditions and stipend bands are published by the state on the Mahaswayam portal.
