Eligibility criteria

A claimant has to be a Bihar resident (INTER 2026 application page) who passed the intermediate examination through one of the state's examination boards recognised by the Bihar government. The notice lists the schools it has in mind: government and provincialised schools, aided non-government higher secondary schools including minority schools, project schools, recognised and affiliated schools, and aided madrasas and Sanskrit schools inside Bihar (Education Department notice). The official FAQ in the scheme record words the list more narrowly, as government and government-aided schools, madrasas and project schools, so a girl from any other recognised school should confirm with the Education Department before she registers (myScheme record).

The unmarried condition is written into the scheme's own figures: the Kanya Utthan chart in the Gender Budget prints the Rs. 25,000 for passing Intermediate with the word अविवाहित (unmarried) beside it (Bihar Gender Budget 2024-25). The 2026 form then fixes the date on which that condition is tested, through the declaration "I was unmarried at the time of declaration of my (10+2) result" (INTER 2026 application page).

No division is asked for. In the Gender Budget's entry for the Mukhyamantri Balika Protsahan Yojana, "first division" appears only in the sentence about the Class X award, and the next sentence gives Rs. 25,000 to "girl students of all categories who have passed Intermediate" (Bihar Gender Budget 2024-25). No income ceiling appears in the notice or in the scheme record either (Education Department notice; myScheme record).

The account is the last test. The notice wants it in the girl's own name, at a nationalised bank, a recognised private bank or India Post Payments Bank, and operated at a branch located in Bihar (Education Department notice).

The scheme record publishes no exclusion list; these are the claims the department's own papers turn away:

• Anyone whose wedding came before her (10+2) result, since the INTER 2026 form opens with a declaration pinned to that result date (INTER 2026 application page).
• An account in a parent's or anyone else's name, or one run from a branch outside Bihar (Education Department notice).
• Any account the bank has not seeded with her Aadhaar for DBT, even where the two are linked. The INTER 2026 status page tells girls in that position to go to their bank at once and warns that they will not be paid (INTER 2026 status page).
• A second claim by a girl who has already been paid (myScheme record).

The incentive hangs on a single event, the declaration of her intermediate result, so no second instalment or yearly re-application follows it, and the scheme record allows the benefit to be availed only once (myScheme record).

The award is one flat Rs. 25,000 per student, with no higher slab for better marks: the budget ties it to passing Intermediate, not to a division (Bihar Gender Budget 2024-25). The notice sends the money by DBT straight into the account she registers, which it requires to be in her own name, and neither the notice nor the scheme record ties the money to a use or asks her to join a degree course before she is paid (Education Department notice; myScheme record).

Some state pages still carry a lower amount. The Bihar Vikas Mission's description of the human development sub-mission gives "Rupees 10 thousand" for passing the intermediate examination (Bihar Vikas Mission), whereas the Gender Budget 2024-25 puts this stage at Rs. 25,000 (Bihar Gender Budget 2024-25). The scheme record's benefit line ties each of the two amounts to a year of passing (myScheme record).

In the state budget, the money sits under an Education Department head titled Mukhyamantri (Intermediate Uttirn) Protsahan Yojana, Saat Nischay-2, while the older Balika (Intermediate) Protsahan Yojana head for higher education shows zero in every column (Bihar Gender Budget 2024-25). The allocations under that head give a sense of the scale:

• Financial Assistance: ₹10,000/- for girls passing intermediate in 2021; ₹25,000/- in 2022 and later.

Documents required

An intermediate claim still leans on the matriculation certificate. The notice has the date of birth entered as the matriculation certificate records it, alongside the board registration number and the marks obtained (Education Department notice), while the INTER 2026 form asks for scans of just the 12th marksheet and the Aadhaar card, front and back (INTER 2026 application page).

The name has to agree across three records. The notice wants the name on her bank account and on her Aadhaar to match the one on her board registration and marksheet (Education Department notice).

How to apply

Everything happens online, in the order the notice sets out, and the INTER 2026 portal adds one standing instruction of its own: type in the same details the board's marksheet carries (INTER 2026 portal).

1. On the medhasoft home page, open the row मुख्यमंत्री बालिका प्रोत्साहन योजना (माध्यमिक +2), labelled Year 2026, through any of the links beside it.
2. Choose "Students Click Here To Apply", read the instructions, and accept the declarations on marital status and on Bihar residence with consent to use Aadhaar (INTER 2026 application page).
3. Register with the board registration number, marks obtained, date of birth, name, bank account number, branch, IFSC code, Aadhaar number, mobile number and email address (Education Department notice).
4. Wait for the user ID and password, which reach the registered mobile number and email once the registration details are checked, and share them with no one (Education Department notice).
5. Use those credentials to return to the portal, fill in the rest of the form and finalise it. The notice forbids any amendment after finalisation and hands verification to the district (Education Department notice).

The file the portal links as "Guidelines for Registration on INTER 2026 Scholarship Portal" is the department's notice for an earlier examination year. Its portal address and helpline list have changed since, but it is still the written guidance the portal hands applicants (INTER 2026 portal).

Checking Where the Claim Stands

On the INTER 2026 portal, a claim's status is shown only to the phone the girl registered, because the page sends that mobile an OTP before it displays anything (INTER 2026 status page). The other two entries it wants are her registration number and her date of birth, the latter as she took it from her matriculation certificate when she registered (INTER 2026 status page; Education Department notice). The notice sent her user ID and password to that same mobile (Education Department notice). Most of the notice's conditions govern how the form is filled. Final submission locks it, the user ID and password are not to be shared, and the notice asks that the entries be made in the girl's own presence, preferably from a personal or family phone or computer, holding the applicant herself responsible for any irregularity (Education Department notice).
