About MCCSPY
The Medhavi Chhatr/Chhatra Shiksha Protsahan Yojana is a merit-linked education scheme run by the Labour Department of Chhattisgarh. It rewards academically strong students from registered worker families with a cash incentive, and it runs across levels from school into higher and professional education.
The aim is to keep the children of registered workers in study by tying the award to results in the previous class, with larger amounts at higher levels of education and for admission into professional courses. The benefit is a direct cash payment rather than a loan or a fee waiver.
Eligibility runs through two things: a parent's standing as a worker registered with the department in Chhattisgarh, and the student's own marks in the qualifying examination. The scheme is limited to residents of the state and to a set number of children per registered family, and the award scales with the level of education, with the specific thresholds and amounts set by the department. Applications are made through the department's labour offices and common service centres.
