Overview

About LFS-SEBC

Loan For Foreign Study (S.E.B.C.) is a state scheme of the Government of Gujarat, run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. Within the department it is administered by the Director of Developing Castes Welfare, and it is meant for students from the Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) who plan to study abroad.

The scheme offers a concessional education loan rather than a grant. Eligible students can borrow up to ₹15 lakh towards a foreign degree at 4% annual interest. The money is intended to cover the cost of higher education at a recognised university or college outside India.

It is open to SEBC students of Gujarat who have already secured admission to a foreign institution. Because this is a loan and not a scholarship, the amount is repaid over time.
