Loan For Foreign Study (E.B.C.)(LFS-EBC)
Overview
About LFS-EBC
Loan For Foreign Study (E.B.C.) is a state scheme of the Government of Gujarat, run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. Within the department it is administered by the Directorate of Developing Castes Welfare, and it is meant for students from the Educationally Backward Class (EBC) who plan to pursue higher education abroad.
The scheme offers a concessional education loan rather than a grant. An eligible student can borrow up to ₹15 lakh towards a foreign course at 4% simple annual interest, covering the cost of studying at a recognised university or college outside India. Because this is a loan and not a scholarship, the amount is repaid over time.
It is open to EBC students of Gujarat who have already secured admission to a foreign institution. Applications are made online through the state's e-Samaj Kalyan portal, where eligibility and documents are checked before a loan is sanctioned.
