Ladies Vocational Centres(LVC)
Overview
About LVC
Ladies Vocational Centres is a state-sponsored scheme run by the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. It offers women vocational training in trades such as cutting and tailoring, embroidery, knitting and stenography, so that participants can go on to set up their own income-generating work.
The scheme pairs skills training with a monthly stipend paid to trainees while the course runs, so a woman can earn a little while she learns a trade. The trades on offer are a mix of craft skills and clerical stenography, both of which can lead to self-employment or paid work once training ends.
It is meant for women in Jammu and Kashmir. The exact age, education and income limits differ between the craft trades and the stenography stream, so applicants should check which one they qualify for before applying.
