Overview

About WFCTNSJKBOCWWB

Workers for Class 9th to 12th Through National Scholarship is a state scholarship run by the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB), which sits under the Union Territory's Labour and Employment Department. It forms the education strand of MUHAFIZ, the board's social-security programme for construction and unorganised-sector workers, and has been in effect since 1 January 2018.

The scheme pays an annual scholarship of Rs 1,200 per child towards the secondary and higher-secondary schooling of a registered worker's children. The money is disbursed through the National Scholarship Portal, the central government's online scholarship portal, so families apply and receive the funds online rather than at the board's counter.

It covers children of workers registered with the JKBOCWWB who are studying in classes 9 to 12, and the benefit can be claimed for up to two children of the same worker. Everything hinges on the parent's registration with the board; families of workers who are not enrolled are not covered.
