Overview

About KDSCS

Kanya Dhan is a state scholarship run by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa, for girl students from Scheduled Caste communities. It is aimed at a girl in the higher secondary years, from the point she finishes Class 10 and takes admission in Class 11.

The benefit is a one-time cash award held as a fixed deposit in the student's name. The money is released only after she clears the Class 12 board examination or its equivalent, so the award is tied to completing higher secondary schooling rather than paid up front.

The purpose is to keep SC girls in education beyond Class 10 and cut dropouts at the higher secondary stage. It is open to eligible SC girl students in Goa, and applications are made online through the state's Chief Minister Scholarship Portal (cmscholarship.goa.gov.in).
