Overview

About MBSSDS

The Merit Based Scholarship Scheme for Dhangar Students is a state award run by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa, and administered through the Chief Minister Scholarship Portal (cmscholarship.goa.gov.in). It rewards Dhangar students for their results in the state's SSC (Class 10) and HSSC (Class 12) board examinations, with cash awards ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000.

The scheme runs on two tracks. Rank-holder awards of ₹20,000 go to the top five students from SSC and from each HSSC stream – Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational – with no income ceiling attached. A second, wider track pays slab-based awards to any Dhangar student who scores at least 50% and whose annual family income is below ₹2,00,000: ₹5,000 for 50 to 59.99%, rising through ₹8,000 and ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 for 75% and above.

Applications are made online through the Chief Minister Scholarship Portal. An applicant must belong to the Dhangar community and hold Goan residence, and must submit an attested Social Status Certificate, a Residence Certificate and, for the income-tested track, an Income Certificate. The school or institution verifies each application before the directorate takes it up for final scrutiny.
