Overview

About MPGSS

The Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholars Scheme is run by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa. It gives cash awards to meritorious students from Goa who are pursuing a postgraduate degree or a PhD, whether they study within India or abroad.

The aim is to help talented Goan students take up advanced study and research at reputed institutions, so the award for study abroad is set higher than the award for study within India. The state selects up to 40 scholars each year, so the scheme is competitive rather than open to all applicants.

It is meant for Goa residents pursuing PG or doctoral programmes at institutions that are ranked (QS, THE or NIRF) or NAAC-accredited, subject to a merit threshold and an age limit. The exact residency, age and marks requirements, and the award amounts, are listed in the eligibility and benefits sections above.
