Overview

About KKN-SI

Kalakar Kritadnyata Nidhi (KKN) is a cultural welfare scheme run by the Directorate of Art and Culture under the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa. Within it, the Scholarships/Incentives component provides cash support to the children of Goan artists recognised by the Directorate who are pursuing higher education.

KKN was set up to assist aged and needy Goan artists and their dependent families across a range of circumstances. This component carries that intent into education, easing the economic pressure that artist households face when a child moves into higher studies. The benefit is paid as a cash grant.

Eligibility rests on the parent being an artist recognised by the Directorate of Art and Culture, and on the family's circumstances, rather than on the student's course or institution. If your parent is on the Directorate's rolls of recognised artists, you would apply to the Directorate for the incentive. The scheme is also listed on the Government of India's myScheme portal, which carries the current eligibility and benefit conditions.
