Overview

About HSSM

The Handicapped Students Stipend is a Mizoram state scheme run by the Directorate of Social Welfare, under the Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs Department, Government of Mizoram. It pays a monthly stipend to school students with disabilities.

The money is meant for books and uniforms and is paid as cash. The stipend is stepped by class, rising through the school years, and it reaches eligible students whether they study in a government school or a private one.

Support is aimed at students with a disability who are residents of Mizoram, enrolled in school, and from a Below Poverty Line family. Applications are handled at the district level through the District Social Welfare Office, which processes the disability and enrolment details before the stipend is released.
