Post Matric Merit Scholarship(PMMS)
Overview
About PMMS
The Post Matric Merit Scholarship is a state award for students from Mizoram who continue their education after matriculation. It is run by the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Mizoram, and administered through the Mizoram Scholarship Board, placing it among the state's own scholarship schemes rather than a centrally sponsored one.
The scheme pays a cash grant to permanent residents of Mizoram who meet its merit bar, set at 60% marks or a first division in a Board or University examination. The money covers tuition fees, a maintenance allowance for boarding and lodging, and related costs such as books and stationery, and it is funded entirely from the State Plan Fund.
Applications are handled offline and normally open between July and September, with forms available at the Mizoram Scholarship Board during office hours. A student submits the completed form along with the required documents – a Permanent Residential Certificate, the previous year's mark sheet, an Aadhaar card and self bank account details – which the board verifies before releasing payment.
