About GMWESNIL-SW
Grant to Meritorious Wards of ESM in Sports: National / International Level is a welfare scheme run by the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry. It is a one-time cash grant that rewards the children of ex-servicemen for sporting achievement, covering events at both the national and international level.
The grant is meant for a ward of an ex-serviceman, or a ward of an ex-serviceman's widow, where the ESM or the widow is registered with the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry. The cash benefit is credited to the beneficiary's bank account.
There is no online form. You apply offline through the department, within the stated window after the achievement, and you attach the certificate for the national or international event along with proof that the ex-serviceman or widow is registered with the department.

Eligibility criteria
| The applicant should be a Ward of an ESM / Ward of the Widow of an Ex-Serviceman (ESM).- The ESM / Ward of the Widow of an ESM should be registered with the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry.- The event should be organised by a body approved/recognized by the Government. | |
| The applicant should have achieved merit in a sport at the national/international level. |
What you get
Award & benefits
- Grant of ₹50,000/- for achievements in sports at the international level.
- Grant of ₹30,000/- for achievements in sports at the national level.
- The amount is credited to the beneficiary’s Bank Account through RTGS/ NEFT.
