About GITTPWD
The Government Institutions for Teaching and Training of Persons with Disabilities scheme is run by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Chhattisgarh. It supports persons with disabilities through government-run institutions where their education, training and rehabilitation are handled together in one residential setting.
The support is given in kind rather than as a cash transfer. A person admitted to one of these institutions receives free hostel accommodation, food and clothing along with education and training, so that everyday needs and learning are covered in the same place.
