About GKB
Gaon Ki Beti Yojana is a scholarship run by the Government of Madhya Pradesh for girls from the state's rural areas who continue into higher education. The Department of Higher Education is the nodal department, and the award reaches students through the state scholarship portal.
Madhya Pradesh started the scheme in 2005 to keep girls from villages in education past Class 12. It is meant for students who clear Class 12 from a village school and then enrol in a graduation course at a government or private college or university in the state.
The benefit is a cash scholarship paid in monthly instalments over the academic year, with a higher yearly rate for technical and medical courses than for other graduation streams.

Who can apply
Eligibility criteria
| The student must have secured 60% or more marks in the 12th standard. | |
| The girl must reside in a rural area and possess a "Gaon Ki Beti" (Daughter of the Village) certificate. | |
| She must be enrolled in a recognized institution for higher education. |
What you get
Award & benefits
- Each year, girls who pass the 12th standard with first-class marks from a village will be eligible.
- Selected students will receive a scholarship of ₹500/- per month.
- The scholarship will be provided for a maximum of 10 months per year.
