Overview

About HSDS

The Hostel Scheme for Disabled Students is a Madhya Pradesh state scheme run by the state's Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. It helps students with disabilities who need a place to stay in order to continue their education past secondary school.

The scheme is meant for students entering class 11 and above who attend on a regular basis. Where a school or college has hostel facilities, an eligible student can be accommodated there; where no hostel is available, the scheme gives cash assistance towards renting a private room near the institution, with additional support for utility charges.

Applications are made to the District Officer, Social Justice, in the applicant's district, who approves the rent amount payable to students in privately rented accommodation. The scheme is open to residents of Madhya Pradesh who are certified as persons with disabilities and are studying in class 11 or above.
