Gargi Puruskar Yojana(GPY)

The paying date is set by the calendar rather than by a notification. Basant Panchami is the day the amount is released each year, and it moves with the Hindu calendar, so it lands on a different date every year (Balika Shiksha Foundation, Rajasthan).

The application window opens months earlier and is announced on the portal rather than by the calendar: the beneficiary portal's news log records the Gargi award scheme's online application for 2024-25 as starting on 17 October 2024 (Shala Darpan Beneficiary Scheme Portal). The closing date is published in one place only, a red Application Last Date line at the top of each Gargi form, and the myScheme record carries no close date at all (first instalment form; Gargi Puruskar Yojana, myScheme).

Processing runs well behind the award year, which is the part families are least prepared for. The same news log dates the start of the payment process for the 2021-22 first and second instalments to 19 January 2023, and the certificates for that award year are still the ones the foundation's certificate page serves (Shala Darpan Beneficiary Scheme Portal; certificate print, Balika Shiksha Foundation).

Three conditions decide it, and the first is settled by the time most students hear the scheme's name. She needs 75% or more in the Secondary or Praveshika exam conducted by the Rajasthan board, and she must be studying regularly, in Class 11 for the first instalment and Class 12 for the second. The foundation states plainly that there is no restriction on the income, occupation or caste of the student's parents (Balika Shiksha Foundation, Rajasthan).

Girls from the Swami Vivekanand Government Model Schools enter on a different measure, because those schools grade rather than mark: a CGPA of 8 to 10 in the Class 10 exam carries the same award, and it is written into both instalments, not just the first (Balika Shiksha Foundation, Rajasthan).

School ownership is not a test either, which is where most families guess wrong. The portal's How To Apply table lists both Gargi instalments against government secondary, model, Sanskrit, SJE Avasiya and TAD schools and against private schools alike, with schools under the Department of Minority Affairs named on the first instalment as well (Shala Darpan Beneficiary Scheme Portal, How To Apply). What has to be the board's is the exam, not the school.

The year printed on the form is the real trap. The first-instalment form for session 2025-26 accepts only girls who passed Class 10 in 2024-25 from RBSE or a government model school with 75% or more, while the second-instalment form running in the same session is built for the batch that passed in 2023-24 (first instalment form, second instalment form). The same girl meets the same portal twice, a year apart, on two forms that are open at the same moment and are not interchangeable.

Neither myScheme nor the foundation publishes an exclusion list. What exists instead is a set of hard stops written into the forms. A roll number the board's result file does not carry is refused, and so is a result under the qualifying mark, because the portal validates the entry against result data the board supplies rather than against an uploaded marksheet (first instalment form).

The other stop is identity. The second-instalment form proceeds only when the name, gender and date of birth in Jan Aadhaar agree with the Class 10 marksheet, and the first-instalment form tells students to get a wrong Jan Aadhaar corrected before applying rather than after (second instalment form). A spelling that differs between the marksheet and the family's Jan Aadhaar is not a clerical annoyance here; it is the end of the attempt until the Jan Aadhaar record is fixed.

There is no renewal application, because the second payment is not the continuation of a file the state already holds. It is a fresh application on its own form a year later, and it turns on being enrolled and studying regularly in Class 12 (Balika Shiksha Foundation, Rajasthan). Nothing carries forward automatically, not the roll number, not the bank details, not the Jan Aadhaar verification, and a girl who filed the first form and assumes the rest follows is exactly the profile the second instalment's lower count is made of.

The prize is the same at both stages, and a certificate rides with the award.

Marks above the bar buy nothing extra. The scheme is a threshold award and not a ranked one, so every girl who clears the qualifying mark draws the identical amount. That is also why the award reaches the numbers it does: it is a bar to clear, not a place to win.

The certificate outlives the ceremony, and it is printed on demand rather than posted. The foundation's certificate page currently serves Gargi Puraskar certificates for the award years 2021-22 and 2022-23, with separate links on its home page for 2023-24 and for 2024-25 (certificate print, Balika Shiksha Foundation; Balika Shiksha Foundation, Rajasthan).

The four documents myScheme lists are what a school asks to see. The online form asks for more, and knowing its fields in advance is what keeps an application from stalling halfway. It wants the Jan Aadhaar number with details matching the marksheet, the roll number, passing year, marks and percentage, the parents' names and the category, the school where Class 10 was passed with its type, name, block and district, the school where she is studying now, and a full bank block: IFSC code, bank name, branch, account number, account holder name and account type (second instalment form).

Two of those are worth settling before the form is opened. The bank account has to be the student's own, since the account holder's name is a field in its own right, and the Jan Aadhaar has to already be correct, because the form validates it rather than accepting a correction.

The route is online and it is the student's to walk. myScheme records the application as a scholarship application submitted through the school principal on the Shala Darpan portal, but the portal's own How To Apply table now lists both Gargi instalments as active and files them under "Student (No Login Required)", unlike the foundation's school-locked schemes, which are marked as filed from a school or DEO login (Shala Darpan Beneficiary Scheme Portal, How To Apply; Gargi Puruskar Yojana, myScheme). A family does not have to wait for the school to act, though the school is still where a wrong result record gets corrected.

Open the form that matches the year she passed Class 10, enter the roll number and let the portal pull the board record, then complete the Jan Aadhaar, school and bank blocks. The Jan Aadhaar check is worth doing on a separate day if it is at all doubtful, because a mismatch there ends the attempt rather than delaying it. The same portal carries a Check Eligibility screen with a BSF Schemes filter, which is the quickest way to confirm the scheme is open before starting anything (Check scheme eligibility, Shala Darpan).

Tracking the Application and the Payment

There is no page on the portal that reports a Gargi application's status, and the portal's application print screen is not it: that screen currently offers only the Balika Protsahan Puraskar application for Class 12, not either Gargi form (application form print, Shala Darpan). Tracking therefore means retrieving the document that proves the award, not watching a progress bar.

Once an award year has been processed, the certificate page is the confirmation. Choose the district and the board, which is where the list runs beyond the Rajasthan board's Secondary and Praveshika exams to include the CBSE Secondary exam, then enter the student's name with either the roll number or the application number, and the certificate prints in her name behind a captcha (certificate print, Balika Shiksha Foundation). The money itself arrives as a DBT credit, so the passbook entry against the student's own account is the payment record, and it will not appear before the award year is processed.

Nobody sits in judgment on a Gargi application. Selection is arithmetic run against the board's own result file, which is why the form rejects a roll number it cannot find there and why nothing has to be attested by hand (first instalment form). The foundation publishes no cap on the number of awards and no cutoff above the qualifying mark, so the eligibility test is the whole of the selection (Balika Shiksha Foundation, Rajasthan).

Payment is by DBT into the student's own account, which is why the form collects the IFSC code, the branch, the account number and the account holder's name rather than routing money through the school (second instalment form). The prize money for both instalments comes from the Directorate of Secondary Education, Bikaner, and the award is given with a certificate (Balika Shiksha Foundation, Rajasthan).

Regular study is a continuing condition rather than a one-time declaration: the first instalment rests on regular enrolment in Class 11 and the second on regular enrolment in Class 12, so a break in schooling between the two costs the second payment even though the marks that earned it cannot change. The foundation publishes nothing on what happens if a girl repeats a class, changes school between the instalments, or moves out of state, and the helpline rather than an assumption is the place to settle that.

A help centre number specific to the Gargi pages is printed in the side panel of the application and certificate screens themselves, so a student stuck mid-form should read it off the page she is on rather than search for it (certificate print, Balika Shiksha Foundation). Anything about a wrong roll number, a wrong percentage or a missing result record belongs with the school and the board, not the helpline, because the portal only reads what the board sent it.
