Financial Incentive to SC Meritorious Girls Students(FISCMGS)
Overview
About FISCMGS
Financial Incentive to SC Meritorious Girls Students is a state scheme of the Government of Assam that rewards girls from Scheduled Caste families who do well in the HSLC examination, the Class 10 board exam held in the state. It is run by the Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, the department set up in 1976 to carry out welfare policy for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in Assam, under the Social Justice and Empowerment department.
The benefit is a cash incentive of ₹5,000 for an SC girl who scores 80% or more in the HSLC examination. The aim is to encourage girls who do well in the board exam to carry on into higher studies rather than stop after Class 10.
The scheme is meant for girls from Scheduled Castes who are permanent residents of Assam and have passed the HSLC examination at the required merit level. Applications are handled through the myScheme portal and the Directorate's own channels.
