Post-Matric Scholarship for the Students Belonging to Scheduled Tribe for Studies in India(PMSSBSTSI)
Overview
About PMSSBSTSI
The Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe students supports eligible ST students in Assam through their education after matriculation. In the state it is administered by the Directorate of Tribal Affairs (Plain) under the Government of Assam, which handles the applications and disbursement as part of the central and state sponsored scholarship support for Scheduled Tribe students.
The purpose is to keep ST students in education from the post-matriculation stage through the post-graduate level, so that the cost of studying beyond Class X does not push capable students out of school and college. It is a cash benefit that covers the compulsory course fees along with a monthly stipend, and it reaches both hostellers and day scholars.
The scholarship is meant for students from Scheduled Tribe communities in Assam who are enrolled in recognised institutions. Whether a student qualifies depends on category, course level and family income, and the detailed conditions and amounts are set out in the scheme guidelines.
