Overview

About EAGRDC

The Educational Assistance for Government Recognised Diploma Courses is a Maharashtra welfare scheme for the children of registered construction workers. It is administered by the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, which functions under the state's Labour Department. The board was constituted under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and the Maharashtra tripartite board was formed on 1 May 2011.

The scheme provides a cash benefit towards a diploma or postgraduate diploma taken in a government-recognised course. It is one of several education benefits the board runs for workers' families, spanning schooling through to professional degrees, and the money comes from the 1% welfare cess the board collects on the cost of construction work in the state.

Support is meant for families where a parent is a construction worker registered with the board, and it usually reaches the first two children of a registered worker. Applications are made through the board's portal at mahabocw.in, where a student submits proof of their earlier results and confirmation of admission for the current year.
