Overview

About EAFMAEC

Educational Assistance for Medical and Engineering Courses is a state scheme run by the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, a body under the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra. The Board registers construction workers across the state and extends welfare support to them and to their dependents.

The scheme pays a cash grant toward the cost of a professional degree. It is meant for families whose earning member does manual construction work, so that the higher fees of medical and engineering programmes at recognised institutions do not put those courses out of reach.

It is open to the children of a registered construction worker, and in some cases to the worker's wife, provided the student is admitted to a government-recognised medical or engineering course. Support is capped at the first two children of a registered worker, and eligibility rests on the parent holding an active registration with the Board.
