Overview

About EAFDC

Educational Assistance for Degree Course is a welfare scheme of the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The board is a statutory body constituted under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and it works under the Labour Department of the Government of Maharashtra. Its schemes are funded from the cess collected on construction work in the state.

The scheme gives cash assistance towards an undergraduate degree, paid year by year across the years of the course. It is meant to help families of registered construction workers meet the cost of higher education, so that a student can carry on from one year of the degree to the next.

The benefit is for the children of a construction worker registered with the board. The same assistance is extended to the wife of a registered male worker who is pursuing a degree. Support is released after admission is confirmed and the earlier year of study is completed, on the strength of the relevant marksheets and admission records.
