Overview

About DBRAMASCS

The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Award to Scheduled Caste Students is a state award given by the Adi Dravidar Welfare and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, Government of Puducherry. It recognises the top-ranking Scheduled Caste boy and girl student in each of three of the union territory's regions – Pondicherry, Karaikal and Yanam – on the strength of their marks in the Higher Secondary Examination.

The department runs the award as part of its wider work to improve the educational and socio-economic standing of Scheduled Caste families in the union territory. The benefit is a one-time cash award paid to each selected student.

This is a merit award rather than an open scholarship. It is meant for Scheduled Caste students who are natives or long-term residents of Puducherry and who have cleared the Higher Secondary Examination, and only the highest-scoring boy and girl in each region are selected.
