About CMSTSSWD
The Chief Ministergi Shotharabasingi Tengbang (CMST) is a welfare scheme run by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur, for persons with disabilities in the state. The scholarship for students with disabilities is one component of CMST, which also covers a care-giver allowance and skill training.
The scholarship is a cash award that helps students with disabilities meet the cost of their schooling and, later, their college study. The amount rises with the level of study, from the primary classes up to college. The Social Welfare Department had supported students with disabilities in this way for years before bringing that support under CMST from 2017-18.
It is meant for students with disabilities who are domiciles of Manipur and are studying in Class 1 or above at an institution recognised by the state government. Students already receiving a similar scholarship from another source are not eligible.
