About CBS-PBAOCWWB
The Cash Benefit Scheme is run by the Puducherry Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (PBAOCWWB), a body the Labour Department of the Union Territory of Puducherry constituted in 2002 to look after registered construction workers and their families. Under this scheme the Board extends educational financial assistance to the wards of those workers.
The support is directed at students who place among the top three ranks at the State and Regional level in the Higher Secondary course, or an equivalent examination. The assistance is paid in cash and credited through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the ward's bank account.
Eligibility runs through the parent's registration: the applicant is a student whose parent is a construction worker enrolled with PBAOCWWB. That same registration is the gateway to the Board's wider welfare measures, which cover areas such as medical assistance, marriage assistance and scholarships for workers' children. Applications for the Cash Benefit Scheme are handled offline at the Board's office in Puducherry.
