Overview

About CA(MBOCWWB)

The Cash Award is one of the welfare schemes run by the Meghalaya Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB). The Board is a statutory body set up by the Government of Meghalaya under Section 18(1) of the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and it works under the state's Labour and Employment department from its office at Lower Lachumiere, Shillong.

The scheme is meant for the school-going children of registered construction workers. Each year the Board gives a cash prize to the highest-scoring sons and daughters of its registered beneficiaries in each district in the SSLC examination, the Secondary School Leaving Certificate taken at the end of Class 10. The benefit is a one-time cash award, and separate prizes are set aside for boys and for girls.

Only children whose parent or guardian is an active, registered beneficiary of the Board can be considered. Registration with the Board is open to construction workers in Meghalaya who fall within a set age range and have put in enough days of construction work in the previous year, so the award reaches families already enrolled as beneficiaries. You can check the current documents and application steps on the Board's own portal before applying.
