Backward Class Students Meritorious Award Scheme(BCSMAS)
Overview
About BCSMAS
The Backward Class Students Meritorious Award Scheme is a state award run by the Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. It recognises backward-class students who finish at the top of their district in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.
The benefit is a one-time cash award for a completed board result, not an ongoing scholarship. The award amount and who may apply follow the department's own rules.
The award is one part of the department's backward-class welfare work in Madhya Pradesh, which also runs income-linked scholarships for students earlier in school. For a backward-class student in the state, it is the recognition attached to a district-topping result in the Class 10 or Class 12 board exam.
