Overview

About ADTWSPE

The Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu runs this scheme to cover the public examination fees paid by Class 10 and Class 12 students. Sitting the state board examinations carries a fee, and for eligible students the department meets that cost so it does not fall on the family.

The support is a cash benefit paid as a reimbursement rather than a transfer to the student. The examination fee is reimbursed to the Directorate of Government Examinations, the body that conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 public examinations in Tamil Nadu. No income limit is applied to this fee reimbursement.

It is for students from the Adi Dravidar, Tribal, and Adi Dravidar Converted to Christianity communities who are studying in Tamil Nadu. The wider aim is to keep students from these communities in school through the board-exam years, when the fee for a public examination can itself become a reason to drop out.
