Young Interns Program(YIP)

YIP recruits in announced rounds rather than on a fixed annual calendar, and the close dates arrive with each round's advertisement.

The pattern to plan around: the 2023 department-level window ran roughly two weeks, and the portal's later round was announced through its news strip with fresh apply links. The myScheme record carries no standing open or close date, so the working method is to watch yip.rajasthan.gov.in and the SSO Citizen Apps tile rather than wait for an aggregator to notice.

The published criteria have two layers, and the second is the one that filters most applicants out. The general layer asks for age between 21 and 30 years, working comfort in both Hindi and English, ICT skills, and the applicant's own laptop with an internet connection. The educational layer requires a postgraduate degree with at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6 on a 10-point scale, in any stream from a recognized university; the only route in without a postgraduate degree is a graduate degree in the Engineering, Medical, Law, CA or CS streams at the same 60% or CGPA 6 bar, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived).

Two quieter clauses matter in practice. Departments, district collectors and divisional headquarters may add their own educational or technical requirements for the slots they host, so the floor above is a minimum, not the whole test. And working experience in the field of the chosen department earns declared priority, which shifts the odds toward applicants who pick a sector matching their record rather than the most prestigious-sounding office. The document list also asks for a domicile certificate of Rajasthan, so candidates from other states have no practical route in. Any dispute ends at the Secretary-in-charge of the Statistics Department, whose decision the guidelines make binding and final.

The scheme's exclusions operate during the internship rather than at the gate. YIP is a full-time engagement: an intern found earning any other regular remuneration is terminated with immediate effect. Leaving mid-way carries paperwork and money consequences: the resignation must reach the mentor or nodal officer with a detailed work report within one month, the stipend stops immediately on abandonment, the last month's payment is released only after the report is submitted, and a missed deadline starts recovery proceedings for the whole last quarter, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived). At the application stage itself, the DES warns that incomplete and late applications are not entertained, per the General Instructions for applying under YIP 2023 (archived).

There is no fresh application for a second year. Extension is a performance call: after the first year ends, the mentor or nodal officer may recommend extending the internship, and the guidelines allow one more year granted six months at a time, with a hard ceiling of two years in total under any circumstances, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived). The completion certificate is issued by the DES only after the final report comes back approved by the mentor; an intern whose report is found inappropriate gets one extra month to revise it, unpaid.

The package is a stipend, a support allowance and leave, and every rupee of it rides on the reporting schedule described under Terms & Conditions below.

The withholding rules are the part applicants miss. The final quarter's stipend is held back until the completed internship report reaches the DES within that quarter. An intern who quits within the first month is paid nothing at all. Leave taken beyond what has accrued is deducted from that month's stipend. The Rs 2,500 support exists because the government provides no hardware: owning a laptop and a data connection is an eligibility condition, not a perk, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived).

The verbatim list further down the page covers the paper trail, so two practical notes are more useful here. First, the proofs of age, qualification and experience are not uploaded and forgotten: the General Instructions (archived) require all of them to be produced at the group discussion and interview stage, so the originals must be in hand before the shortlist call comes. Second, the letter of intent is not an attachment but a typed field in the online form itself, a write-up of not less than 300 words in Hindi or English on the issue the applicant wants to work on in their chosen sector, per the same instructions. It is the one part of the application the selection committee reads as a writing sample, which is a reason to draft it before opening the form.

The route is Rajasthan's single sign-on system, not a scholarship portal. The published path is SSO Portal, then SSO login, then Citizen Apps (G2C), then Young Interns Program, per the General Instructions (archived); the application URL on record is sso.rajasthan.gov.in, per the myScheme record. The DES states plainly that it takes no responsibility for last-minute technical failures, and that late or incomplete submissions are rejected, so the form is worth finishing days before the close.

Tracking works through the same doors, because this scheme runs on the state's own stack rather than the National Scholarship Portal: there is no application to find on scholarships.gov.in. Status lives behind the SSO login used to apply, and the program's site at yip.rajasthan.gov.in carries its own SSO Login link alongside its apply links; the portal even publishes its own running counters, which stood at 539 total applicants, 537 eligible and 204 joined in the archived April 2026 capture of the YIP portal. Stipend payments are a departmental matter handled through the bank account submitted with the application, which is why that detail sits in the document list.

Selection is a committee decision built from four inputs the instructions name outright: the eligibility documents, the intent write-up, a group discussion and a personal interview. At the department level, each department constitutes a selection committee of not less than three members, chaired by the mentor, which scrutinizes the downloaded applications and calls eligible candidates for GD and PI, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived).

The district route is separate and smaller. District Collectors invite applications for 73 interns across district and divisional headquarters, screened by a committee of a chairman, who may be the Collector, the CEO of the Zila Parishad or an ADM, and two members not below SDO rank, with the GD, the interview or both conducted by that committee, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived). There is no written examination anywhere in the process; at the department level the scoring gives the intent write-up 50 marks, the group discussion 50 and the personal interview 100, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived).

Most of YIP's conditions exist to police one thing: the reporting calendar that runs from the first month to the final quarter. Reports go to the mentor every month or whenever asked. The DES conducts quarterly reviews of every intern's work with physical presence at the state headquarters, and the deliverables escalate each quarter: a preliminary synopsis at the first review, a final synopsis or preliminary project report at the second, the final project report at the third, and the corrected final report at the last, per the YIP 2023 guidelines (archived).

The disclaimers are equally explicit. Interns are not employees of the department, district office or DES, during or after the internship, and the program carries no assurance of a permanent job. No medical insurance is provided, and the government accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accident or illness during the internship. The internship can be terminated at any point without a stated reason, and misconduct or unsatisfactory performance ends it without notice. The jurisdiction for any dispute is Jaipur.
