Young Investigators Programme in Biotechnology(YIPB)
Overview
About YIPB
The Young Investigators Programme in Biotechnology (YIPB) is a research-support scheme run by the Kerala Biotechnology Commission, the implementing body of the Kerala Biotechnology Board. The Commission works under the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), the state government body that funds and coordinates science research in Kerala.
The programme is meant to give young researchers support to pursue their own ideas in emerging and front-line areas of biotechnology. The work can sit in any branch of the field, from medical, agricultural and veterinary research to environmental, marine, industrial or bioresources studies. Support is composite: it runs for a fixed research period and, for scientists who do not already draw a salary, adds a monthly fellowship on top of grants for travel, consumables and equipment.
YIPB is for individual applicants who hold a PhD in a life-sciences discipline and have post-doctoral research experience in biotechnology, with age relaxation for reserved categories, women and persons with disabilities. Applications are invited through advertisement, and candidates are selected on peer review and evaluation by an expert committee.
