Overview

About VSSY

Vishesh Shiksha Sahaayata Yojana is a welfare scheme of the Chhattisgarh Labour Department, run through the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The state government started it on 10 July 2018 to support the education of children whose registered construction-worker parent has died.

The scheme is meant to keep those children in school and college when a parent's death removes the family's earnings. It applies to the children of a construction worker who was registered with the Board and died within one year of that registration, and the support is limited to the first two eligible children of that worker.

An eligible child is issued a special registration card that qualifies them for the Board's education support schemes, including the Naunihal Scholarship Scheme, the meritorious-student education incentive, and the Board's technical-education assistance. Each of those schemes sets its own conditions, so the card establishes eligibility rather than guaranteeing every payout on its own.
