Uniform Assistance for Socially and Educationally Backward Class Students Studying Standard 1st to 8th(UASEBCOTE)
Overview
About UASEBCOTE
Uniform Assistance for Socially and Educationally Backward Class Students Studying Standard 1st to 8th is a Gujarat scheme run by the state's Social Justice and Empowerment Department. Within the department it falls to the Director, Developing Castes Welfare, the directorate that handles educational support for backward-class students across Gujarat.
The benefit is cash towards a school uniform for children in standards 1 to 8, the primary and upper-primary years. It offsets a recurring cost that families in this group carry, so that the price of a uniform does not become a reason to keep a child out of the classroom.
The scheme is for students of the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes studying in those standards in Gujarat. The same directorate runs parallel schemes for Economically Backward Classes, for minorities, and for nomadic and de-notified tribes, so whether a given student qualifies is settled against the department's published eligibility rules.
